If only a few stings, a paste of baking soda will take the bites off, or even a bath with cider vinegar and a few spoons of baking soda (I always take baking soda when we camp- it takes off even the worst stings) If this isn't enough, then you probably need a vet and antihistamines.

If your dog appears to be in pain you should take it to a vet to get a painkiller. If the bites are really swollen a vet can also give a steroid.

If there are many bites or the dog develops breathing problems, give him Benadryl and go to the veterinarian. Benedryl is given 1-2mg per pound, repeated after 8 hours.

To prevent the lesions will further aggravate it is important to keep the dog from licking and chewing the bite areas. Ice packs alternated with soda and water will provide your dog some comfort and may help sooth the area.
