Discoloration of the back is most often caused by dermatological issues. These issues include Hyperpigmentation (increase of melanin), Hyperpigmentation (overactive melanocytes), and extended sun exposure. Discoloration can also be caused by medications for rheumatoid arthritis. You should first speak to our physician and then seek treatment from a specialist.

The most common causes of skin discoloration is damage done to the subcutaneous layer, or deep layer of the skin. This includes damage caused by ultraviolet rays, either from too much tanning or sun exposure. However, sometimes the damage can be mild and there are creams that will fade the discolored area.
