Near as I can tell, there are 9 different possible trumpet fingerings. They consist of Open valve, valve 1 only, valve 2 only, valves 1 and 2, valves 1 and 3, valves 2 and 3, and valves 1, 2, and 3. It is possible to use the third valve by itself, but it tends to produce a flatter note.

While pressing the valves on any trumpet, we can produce several notes. And there are 7 valves: the open, 2 or half-step; 1 or whole-step; 1-2 or 1-1/2 step; 2-3 or 2 steps; 1-3 or 2-1/2 steps and 1-2-3 or 3 steps. These notes are called fingerings, and can be produced, like I said before, by pressing the valves.
