Some side effects are dizziness, hives, and anxiety. Children may have tooth discoloration. Colitis, confusion, diarrhea, insomnia, hyperactivity and hives can occur with this drug. Peeling skin is also a side effect. Interaction with other drugs can cause problems, so the doctor has to know what other medications you are taking.

The top three official side effects listed are: agitation, anemia, and anxiety, but I've never experienced those. It is an antibiotic, and the standard side effects of that class of medicine include stomach upset, diarrhea, and yeast infections for females. If you get the chewable form it does also have phenylalanine, which can be a problem for some.
