Side-effects of a diuretic include dizziness, stomach pains and dehydration. In rare cases or in conjunction with other disorders, diuretics can also result in an irregular heart beat, cramps and rashes. If you start to suffer from any of these, see a doctor immediately. Avoid taking diuretics at night as they can interrupt sleep.

They can cause an upset stomach of feeling dizzy. More serious effects are possible interference with minerals in the body like potassium and sodium. If you take too many or are over sensitive to them, they can cause dehydration or a skin rash.
