What are the name of the Hebrew vowel points?

+8

Answer by  nuttree (1596)

The Hebrew word for points, or dots, is "niqqud. " The practice of adding points to Hebrew letters to indicate the pronunciation of vowels dates to the early Middle Ages -- the ninth or tenth centuries. The point system that is used today was created by the Masoretes (a group of scribes) in Tiberias, so they are generally called Masoretic points.
