Technically there are two types of bus topology: Linear Bus, where all the computers are connected to a common transmission medium with only two endpoints (connected to a terminators); and a Distributed Bus: where all the computers are physically connected through differents branches to a device like a hub or switch that logically emulates the bus.

This five network bus topologies are: Shared-Bus, Ring, Star, Mesh, and Tree. The most popular topologies are shared-bus where all the devices share a common communications backbone, star toplogy where all devices connect to a central device like a switch, or the tree topology which is a combination of both.
