The screw tips can actually change your game. They don't attach the same way every time, and they can be a little "wobbly". A fixed cue stick will perform the same way every time you use it. You're better off with the fixed cue stick because it will be consistent.
The function of a cue stick is to efficiently impart energy from you to the cue ball. The fewer moving parts involved in that chain, the more efficiently it will perform. Anything which can be screwed together is apt to come unscrewed and may do so at an inappropriate moment.
When you have the choice between a pool cue with a fixed tip and a screw-on tip, if all else is equal, choose the fixed tip. We should consider the hit quality of a pool cue while selecting a pool cue. A one-piece pool cue has the capacity to produce the best hit quality.
First of all its more stable. Its true that screw on tips are easy to replace but what if you lose them. Another thing when you hit the cue ball hard the tendency of the screw tip is to loosen until it becomes loose thread then you have to replace the whole cue stick.
I think viking makes a fine cue and you will be completely happy with the shaft that comes from the factory. I would say that predator makes a good shaft and i have played with them in the past and i don't think the difference is significant. I'm trying to be more conservation on shaft care these days.
a screw tip is not solid ,there will be some give. this will cause poor shots when using english or masse'. a true leather tip is best and should have the same curve edge as a nickel.
