A Tonkinee cat is really just a man made breed which is a cross between a Siamese and a Burmese.

There are numerous differences between Burmese cats and Tonkinese cats, but there aren't really any disadvantages or advantages to either breed. Which one is better depends on the individual person wanting the cat. The differences between them will suit people differently, so what could be a good trait for one person would be a bad trait for another.

The Burmese cat requires more grooming than a Tonkinese. Burmese cats are more calm and quiet. A Burmese makes a better indoor cat also.

The Burmese is a more calm breed and will fare better as an inside cat. The grooming, however, is slightly more complicated and will require care on a semi-daily basis in order to prevent hairballs and matting. The Burmese is also a more quiet breed, which could be a positive or a negative.

A Burmese is a pure bred cat. A Tonkinese is a mix of a Burmese and Siamese. It's considered a 'man-made' breed. A burmese needs to be groomed and a tonkinese doesn't. Burmese is calmer than a toninese. A burmese cat love rhe indoors and tonkinese is more outdoors. I would prefer a Burmese anytime!
