It will probably hurt or be uncomfortable for a few days or so. Nothing else should happen unless it gets infected.

These piercings are painful, and can be slow to heal. Moreover, since the mouth contains a lot of germs and it is hard to put proper antibiotics on the tongue, they are especially prone to infection. Lastly, even if the piercing heals properly, they commonly damage teeth. The jewelry will often chip or break teeth during eating or talking.

After having a tongue piercing you can experience lots of swelling. That is normal since the tongue is reacting to the foreign object through it. This should subside in about a week. Also there will be probably be throbbing pain, but that can be handled with ibuprofen.

It will either hurt like hell or not hurt at all. Your tongue will probably swell and it could be hard to eat for a couple of days. good lucj
