What are some good "getting to know people" questions?

Questions like "Where did you grow up? ", "what do you do for a living? ", "Do you have any hobbies? " lets people know you are interested in them.

Tell me about your family? What hobbies do you have? What do you do in your spare time? Where do you like to vacation? If money was no object, what would be your favorite vacation destination? How long have you worked at your present place of employment? Are you married?

Questions which would be appropriate include: How old are you? Where did you grow up? Do you have any siblings? What sort of films and/or music do you like? What do you do for a living? Are you married? What are some of your hobbies? Where have you travelled to? Which languages do you speak?
