One idea is to find an old table at an antique shop, mine was only $7, and decorate it using decoupage glue and any craft supplies you have around. I did mine using magazine cutouts but another way is to do the top with fabric and paint the legs.

Make new decorative pillows and use same fabric to cover a lampshade. Re-do mantel on fireplace. Change outlet and switch plates to ceramic or cover existing ones with wallpaper or fabric. Tile a kitchen backsplash. Paint trim or molding a contrasting color. Update window treatments or upgrade baseboard molding.

Accent walls are very popular now and can be done in a day. You can cause a dramatic effect in any room by painting the first wall you would see upon entering. Deep colors make fantastic choices for accent walls and should be chosen to compliment your decor and furnishings.

A great project is to get several canvas boards from your nearest home improvement store, make sure to get a staple gun as well. Then head over to the fabric section and get several pieces of fabric that cover the boards. You can now staple the fabric to the board.
