Ask your doctor about Diamox. It is a prescription medication first given for glaucoma, but it was realized that it also worked with high altitude sickness, it is often prescribed for this purpose. Dramamine is over the counter and also works. Its usually in the same aisle as Benadryl.

Lemon and ginger soda can often reduce the illnesses that come with higher altitudes. Keep hydrated and keep ibuprofen and other medications like that handy. Be sure to eat food that is easily digestible. Avoid a lot of physical activity. Try to rest and keep things easy. The less you move around the more time your body has to adapt.
