Fantail goldfish have essentially two tails. They are selectively bred from a mutation which caused a 'normal' goldfish to develop two tails. These fish are often fatter than normal golfish and show a number unique characteristics. Their care is similar to normal goldfish.

Some of the most colorful fantail fish varieties are guppies. they are easy to breed, docile and relatively inexpensive. They also are not as messy as gold fish and can live long.

These fish are from the original, but they are bred to have the double tail and the body shape fantail fish are known for. Types of fantail include Oranda, Common, Telescope, Ryukin, Pearlscale, Tosakin, Wakin, and Jikin. The fish's two tails are "fused" together at the base.

Fantails are a type of fancy guppy. This is a very easy fish to care for that has been bred again and again over the years to have really beautiful colors on their tail. These are popular and cheap at a local fish store and are not aggressive so they go well in any community tank.

Any fish with a split tail is considered a fantail. If you are looking a for different breeds of fantail goldfish there are no specific breed names in this line of fish.
