Was "A Beautiful Mind" a book first?

The title was first published by Simon-Schuster in 1998. It was written by Sylvia Nasar, a noted biographer. The book is of course far more detailed and explores many more aspects of Nash's mind that does the movie, which included many fictionalized scenes contrived specifically for the film.

It is based on the life of John Forbes Nash, Jr who was an economics prodigy but he had schizophrenia and paranoid delusions that affected everyone around him. But the movie was inspired by the book. The book was written by by Sylvia Nasar. I recommend reading the book wholeheartedly.
