There are many things you can do to redirect your troubled thinking. If you are religious, try praying or meditating. Call a good friend and discuss your problems. Read a very interesting book or watch an engrossing movie to take your mind off of your problems. Keep a journal - sometimes writing down your thoughts can help you process them.

One of the things I found is that we have to much on our mind and are living under too much stress. First I would get a journal and write down all the things that are troubling you. You are transferring from the mind to the paper. This is cleaning out your brain. Join a Yoga club.

When you feel good, make a list of things that make you happy, and look at it next time you are troubled. If you have a favorite piece of music, listen to that to relax. A hot bath or a long talk with a friend can help, but if your depression is severe, you might need to see a doctor.

Try relaxation techniques to allow yourself to let go of the troubles accumulating in your mind and be present in the now. Deep breathing exercises can help. Try taking a deep breath in through your nose and out through pursed lips to let go of your anger and frustration. Close your eyes as well.

I would recommend doing something which takes your mind off things completely. For most, it might be things like going for a walk, getting your favourite food, going to the gym, talking with your best friend or family member, etc. Also, try and talk to somebody about your problems, and don't hold it in.
