Some people do have bloody spotting or mild abdominal cramping when they are ovulating; however, this isn't true for everyone. There are at home ovulation kits you can purchase over-the-counter.

Very light spotting can mean you just ovulated. If you want to be more sure, start charting your Basal Body Temperature and/or buy an ovulation test.

Spotting is an imperfect predictor or ovulation, at best. Ovulation can occur any time between eleven and twenty-one days after the beginning of your last menstration. You can narrow this down by observing your basal body temperature, monitoring the consistency of your cervical mucus, or using an over the counter ovulation test to measure your level of LH (luteinizing hormone).
