Is it legal to record a conversation in Alabama?

Generally speaking, it is lawful to record a conversation as long as one party to the conversation knows it's being recorded. For example, you can tape a conversation that you are a party to, however you cannot covertly tape a conversation of two unknowing speakers. I hope that this helps.

It is legal to record a conversation in every state, but you need at last one party members consent before you can record it. No matter what state your in, you are not allowed to record a conversation you are not a part of.

Recording the conversation without the other person knowing is not illegal. What happens to the recording, though, could be a problem.

No recorded conversation is legal before the court unless the parties involved are aware they're being recorded. In phone conversations a tone, or audible indication may or may not suffice.
