Veterinarians have been treating cancer in dogs with chemotherapy drugs for years. There are many choices of such drugs. The best way to get a true second opinion on something like this is to contact the veterinary school in your state and try to speak with the faculty oncologist.

It can be an excellent drug if used in combination with other medications and treatments, but without knowing your treatment plan that's tough to say. Depending on whether you have decided to aggessively treat your pet's cancer or just make his final days more bearable is key here, as some animals can't tolerate alkeran and radiation together.

Without more information it is hard to say for sure. It kind of depends on how much you trust your vet, and if you feel he/she is competent at their profession. If you trust him/her, then talk to him/her about your concerns. If you don't, seek a different vet for a second opinion.

Alkeran is a very effective chemotherapeutic drug for your dog, but whether you want to go with chemotherapy or to try something natural is completely up to you. There are many other ways to help treat your dog's condition, but you should listen to his vet above all.

If that is what the vet has recomended then that is what you should do they have given you something that has proven to work anything you may learn on here may have worked for another dog but that does not mean it will work for yours.
