Is a handheld GPS good for driving?

Or is it just for hiking?

A Handheld GPS designed for hiking will not likely have programming to handle on the fly route navigation. It may have roads marked, but will not have a processor intended to keep up with rapidly changing coordinates. Also, a handheld GPS is more likely to be full to capacity of terrain detail at the expense of detailed road conditions.

It is good for driving because it does help you get from place to place. It doesn't matter how far of a distance it is.
