If I hear a pop noise when I try to start my car - what could it be?

you may have blown a fuse or there car be a loose wire on the starter or battery causing an ark and a pop noise.

It sounds like you are experience some backfiring. This is what occurs when there is fuel not being burnt when it should. It is lighting off while in the exhaust. Typically this is caused by the timing being off or some kind of ignition problem. Do a tune up and make sure everything is working as it should.

It sounds like your car is backfiring. The most common reasons for this are incorrect timing or way too much fuel. If the timing is off the ignition may be firing while the exhaust valve is partially open. If the engine is too rich the unburnt gas may be igniting in the exhaust. Have a mechanic check it out.

It could possibly be an ignition miss fire. It could be a bad spark plug. It could be something caught in the exhaust manifold. It could be backfire in engine. It could be bad fuel in the lines. It could be a build up of gas in the cat converter.

Some stereo components pop when you first start them .It could also be the starter sticking.when you start the car .
