Is it painful at all, or just ticklish? Either way it could very possibly be a bug caught in your ear canal. If you are sure that isn't it, you may be suffering from sinus drainage, pressure on the ear from changes in altitude, or could be recovering from some thick earwax build up and the hair inside is straightening.

What the fluttering in your ear is, is most likely a infection that might be caused by something you did, by going swimming, getting water in your ear and not taking care of it right away, another reason could be; that you had stuck something in there to far, and hurt your ear drum.

The fluttering of the ear could be a variety of reasons. One of the most common reasons could be that there is water in the ear which cause the ear to flutter when it is rub. If there is a persistent problem and it will not go away then it could be an infection.

Ear flutters. Mine generally occur in the mornings while in bed. I have them simultaneously in both ears. They do occur during the day if anxiety or stress are present. It seems to be muscle spasms that also affect the neck below the ears. May be inner ear muscles. Anysuggestions?
