Cleaning of hamster cages actually depends on the number of hamsters occupying a cage. You also have to consider the size of the cage. But the general rule is, when the cage gets smelly and visibly dirty, a good cleaning will surely make your hamsters happy. The best would be cleaning the cages at least once a week.

Clean it as often as necessary depending on your odor tolerance. However, clean it out at least once a week (replace bedding, wash water bottle and bowls). Wash the whole cage and disinfect it at least once every other week to prevent illness causing bacteria from accumulating. Check his food and water daily to ensure he has food and water.

A hamster cage needs to be cleaned daily. This is a chore you should carefully consider before acquiring this pet! To clean the cage, remove the hamster to a separate, confined area. Remove any toys. Take out the food & water container and wash them with soapy water. Then dump the sawdust and replace it with fresh sawdust.

Depends on the size of the cage and number of hamsters, as well as how much time your hamster spends in it. Generally at least once per week.
