Do hamsters who live in Habitrail Hamster Cages need to be taken out for additional exercise?

My son is no longer interested in the hamsters, so I am wondering if they are okay in the Habitrail cage.

Yes, not only for additional exercise but also to get accustom to humans and being handled if you want them to continue to be tame.

Hamsters living in a Habitrail Hamster Cage should not need to be taken out for additional exercise provided that they have a wheel to run on or other such exercise toys. It wouldn't harm them to take them out on occasion, as they love the interaction but they really don't require very much exercise.

Hamsters are busy creatures, but usually manage to exercise in small spaces, like running in the wheel or nibbling on small things. I guess it depends on the size of their cage and how many hamsters there are; a good suggestion would be to get those plastic spheres where you can let them run around the house without loosing them.

They should be fine in a habitrail cage; hamsters do not need very much exercise and they will get plenty in a habitrail cage, as long as they have their handy hamster wheel :) Taking them out to play once in a while never hurts either.

Hamsters need exercise, but they can usually get in in small spaces. The habitrail is probably fine; just make sure they have food and water. If you're worried about them not getting enough attention, maybe take them out yourself every now and then. Be careful though; they love to escape.
