Out of the refrigerator, breast milk may be stored for just a couple of hours before going bad, just like cow's milk. In the refrigerator, for a day or 2 or in the freezer up to a year. Remember to never feed your child questionable milk. When in doubt, throw it out.

Breast milk that is freshly pumped will last at room temperature 6-8 hours. Thawed it can last in the refrigerator for 24 hours. It can be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. You can freeze it for 2 weeks in the door compartment, 3-4 months in the back, and 6-12 months in a deep refrigerator.
