How long can I take my dog from her two week old puppies?

Generally you want puppies to be with their mothers for about 3 months minimum, providing there is not a health issue to consider. That way the puppies have adequate time to nurse and become used to eating solid foods. Also, the puppies need that time to bond with their mother to insure good social development later.

The dog shouldn't leave the puppies until they are at least 8 weeks old. Just like humans puppies develop their social skills from the mother dog and taking away a puppy to early could result in behavioral problems or aggressive behavior. Also the puppies need time to ween off of the Mother dogs milk.

I would not suggest leaving the young puppies away from their mother for more than a few hours. They rely on the mother to eat and gain nutrients.

Not for more than maybe a couple hours. That is for a few reasons one she will bag up and could get mastitis and two you don't want the puppies to get too hungry while she is away if they do when she gets back they will over eat and you could lose them.

I feel eight to twelve weeks is an appropriate time to completely wean puppies. Pups need the nurturing time with the dam and the litter mates for their well-being.

You should not take your dog away for too long. The first two weeks after birth are important for social development, and taking them away too soon could be detrimental.

You can probably take her away for an hour or so, but not much longer than that. At that age puppies need their mom most of the time.

I would not keep your dog from her puppies for more than a few minutes. Not only will the puppies become anxious but the mother dog will start to have seperation anxiety and will want to get back to her babies as quickly as possible. I would say no longer than 5 minutes
