Dwarf hamsters have an extremely short gestational period. While humans are pregnant for nine months after conception, dwarf hamsters are only pregnant for approximately 16 days. However, as with all other animals, there is some variation. Dwarf hamsters can give birth on day 17 or 18 (after mating) as well.

Dwarf hamsters are little and their length of pregnancy is little also! The gestation period is around 21 days but can vary from 16 to 30 days. Just like people, the babies come when they are ready. But that's not much time for these very fertile cute little animals. So be prepared if you have two of them.

They are pregnant for thirteen to sixteen days, some may take up to eighteen days though. The hamsters can get pregnant every three to four days, so if the hamster gives birth, within four days she can become pregnant once again, however it isn't recomennded. They should stay with there young for at least four weeks.
