Keeping ducks as pets is not hard. However, I suggest picking up a book about them if this is your first time, especially if they are being purchased as baby ducks. Baby ducks need proper care and heat lamps in order to get big enough to put outside in a pen or free range.

First of all you need sufficient space. If you want to handle the ducks, you need to get them young and spend a lot of time interacting with them. Ducks also need a place to swim, and a shelter for the night. Good food is game bird feed, cracked corn and fresh vegetable greens. Also plenty of drinking water.

Keeping pet ducks is a breeze if you happen to have an appropriate pond in your yard. Just keep the water circulating and stock it with plant life and minnows, and you've got a lovely duck pond to enjoy for years to come. Get ready for some ducky good times!

Pet ducks need food and water as well as a place to swim. They are messy and will be smelly if they can't swim. They can be very affectionate and fun.
