How do you keep dogs out of kitchen trash cans?

The trash cans have to be somewhere the dogs can't access them, like under the sink. They want to get into what smells good in the trash.

Put the trash cab in a closet or cabinet. If it must stay out, weight the bottom with bricks so it's not easy to tip.

If you have a closet or basement door you can move the can there when needed, such as when leaving the house or going to bed. You can keep the garbage can outside your back door with a brick on the lid. Or purchase a baby gate to block off the room the garbage can is kept in.

Dogs can be kept out of kitchen trash cans by administering cans that are either taller than the dogs themselves or have covers to prevent access by the dog.
