How do you identify a rose-breasted grosbeak?

It's one of the few I haven't seen in my area.

The male has a very bold, very identifiable Black, white and rose pattern. Rose on the chest and black and white blotches on his back. The female however is striped and resembles a finch.

They're rather stocky, around 20cm long and have thick, pale, cone-shaped beaks. The male is much more colorful and distinct than the female, having a black head, black and white wings and a bright red patch of feathers on his breast. The females are mostly grayish-brown, with a buff stripe on their head and black wings with patches of white.
