How do you find the area of a circle that has cut outs?

I really should know all of this, but I am at a loss. Can you help out?

You first would have to find the area of the cut outs. (formula depends on their shape) Add the areas of all the cut outs and subtract that from the area of the circle.

Find the area of the full circle, and the area of each cut out. Then subtract the area of the cutouts from the area of the circle.
