A diamond is a 4 sided polygon. One can either use a measuring device to obtain the dimensions. If the area and at least one side is known, use the equation for area of a rectangle to determine the other side. This works if the angles are all 90 degrees.

You can break the diamond into 2 triangles by drawing a lines across the middle. Then, take the information that you are given to find the area of 1 of the triangles (base height/2). Since both triangles are equal, double this and its the diamond's area.

Define dimensions? If you mean area and the diamond has equal sides, it is just a square that is tilted and thus area would be x side * y side = Zsqureunits. An unequal sided diamond would require more words than I have available to me and diagram would help too ;-)
