an ISO file is a digital print of an origonal piece of content, all ISO files are developed to work directly with blu-ray/dvd/cds which allows direct installation of systems/formats/file systems. ISO its self is known as public.iso-image with the extention of .iso this allows software to create a direct burn.

ISO is actually a set of standards to be followed to get an ISO certification. These standards are included in ISO recommendation after analysing their effect on a process or a business.
