You need to use a program to compress the movie. Compressing the movie lowers the quality, but saves you space. I wouldn't recommend it unless you absolutely have to. You should use a dual-layered dvd before compressing a dvd.

I don't know anyone who still does this. Most times, people transfer items, like movies from dvd's onto their computer hardrive or flashdrive. That's the easiest way. I think you can go online and find tons of stuff on dvd compression, but like I said, it's very rare now adays.

"Compression of DVDs" is not a physical act: one does not apply pressure on the DVD to fit information in it. Rather, your computer does it for you. First, download a software that enables you to "write" information into your DVD. Also ensure your hardware allows you to do so. Second, follow software instructions. Good to go!

There are a lot of sites online that will compress dvds if you upload it to the site. They are free and easy to do. I usually compress them to ipod size.
