One needs to purchase the proper nail clipper from the pet store. It is important not to strike the blood vessel that runs through the nail, short clips are best.

The best time to clip a dog's nails is in the evening when you, and they, are relaxed. Clippers at most pet stores now come with nail guards so that you do not cut them too short. Just in case of that accidental short clip have some styptic powder ready.

You need to socialize your pup to letting you handle his feet, and a conventional pet clipper's just fine- you need to be able to handle his feet so you can look and make sure you aren't cutting the "quick", be patient, go slow, clip only a little at first.

well first you will need a special gog clipper. Make sure you hold your dog still. Distract him with a toy or a treat so he wont panic then carefully start clipping his nails one by one holding his paw firmly. If hes moving too much wait until he calms down.
