The best way to clean produce is to gently rub them under running water with your hands. Do Not use any chemicals on them because the chemicals will leave a residue that could be more harmful than the pesticides that were used on them initially. However, only clean them immediately before using them. Do not pre-clean then store.

Yes you can use soap. Make sure to rinse the soap off thoroughly otherwise ingesting dish soap has been known to give some people diarrhea.

Do not under any circumstances use soap. If you're dealing with some single-pieced vegetable like a carrot you can brush it clean if needed, at least hold it under cold water. If it is a more leafy vegetable, like cabbage, pick the outermost leaves off, until you've gotten to the cleaner core.

You can wash them using a small amount of soap, scrub and rinse well. There are also products such as Veggie Wash that are designed to remove any residual contaminants.
