Plants hybridise easily, and though cacti are often propagated by cloning, you may very well have a genetically unique specimen. You could name it for yourself, if you wish. The cactus will not care. If you care what other people would call it, find a cactus society.

Go to the library or buy a good book on cactus identification. There are a huge number of cactus species with distinctive characteristics. These will help identify them.

The best way is to do an internet search they will give you pictures of all the different ones and you will be able to identify yours. They will also give you alot of info on care.
