How do I get rid of skunks?

First make sure to eliminate the availability of food. Be sure your garbage, pet food, and bird feeders are skunk proof. Pick up fallen fruits, nuts, and berries daily. If a skunk is frequenting a certain area, install a yard light to illuminate it. Program your sprinkling system to come on at night.

First an easiest method is to remove any food and water sources from your yard that may be attracting them to your area. Remember, skunks are more afraid of you than you are of them. Their spray is their natural reaction to fear, similar to you peeing in your pants.

Make sure there is nothing a skunk will want in your yard. This includes garbage, fruit and berries and pet food. Also make sure if you have a compost pile that it is covered.
