Dolphins defend themselves by either fleeing or bumping forcefully their snouts into attackers. Dolphins also are social creatures and can attack predators in groups. Also possibly using audible attacks.

Primarily by traveling in groups, but also by ramming attackers with their noses, biting, tail slapping and projecting a sonic wave.
