Daylillies are both male and female and therefore can self pollinate. However, it is easy to pollinate the plants by hand.

Daylily blooms contain six stamens and one pistil each. A powdery substance is on end of the stamens-this is called pollen. Take one stamen and rub on recipient plant's pistils.

Bees do all of the pollinating on all lillies. They do not germinate therefore they can not self pollinate.

If the flower has both male and female organs, then they may pollinate themselves. If they are missing either the male or female parts, then they must have pollinators or hand pollination. Swabbing pollen early in the morning can pollinate them. Large pollinators as Bumblebees and Hummingbirds are efficient pollinators.

As pollen from the stamen of a daylily is transferred to the pistil of itself or another daylily by the means of insects, wind or people pollination occurs.

The same way as any other plant, they attact insects with take their pollen and dispose of it onto female plants. They pollinate with bees and other insects being the carriers for their pollen. They are a very hardy plant that will grow year after year for you each time.
