You can purchase a DNA test for your pet from your local pet store, this will help to determine what breed your dog is, purebred or not.

This is hard to answer, and the term pit bull is used to group three breeds of dog; the American Pitbull Terrier, which is the most common, the American Staffordshire Terrier, and the Staffordshire Terrier. So there is no true pureness. Their roots can be traces back to the early 19th century, when bulldogs and terriers were bred

The only way to tell with 100% accuracy would be to see its pedigree paperwork. If you don't know it's bloodline, there's no guarantees.

Buy pitbull from a reputed breeder (who knows about its characteristics) or you can get information from websites or books. Consult you vet and take DNA test of the canine. DNA test might be useful.

Other than having papers from a reputable breeder it can be difficult. A pit bull's jaws are very big and strong and their heads are usually bigger than what most dogs would have being the same size.

You can ask the owner that you got it from, look up dog experts, or a vet might be able to determine whether the pit bull is a pure bred or if it's mixed.
