For burning and itching, an over the counter or prescribed suppository or surface cream can be used. You can also soak your rectal area in hot water for about 15 minutes, 3 or 4 time a day for relief. The best method for hemmorhoids is prevention though. Try not to sit for prolonged periods of time, etc.

Treatment would depend on the associated symptoms present. Generally, pain, discomfort and occasional bleeding are the usual complaints. Your doctor may offer you surgery or hemorrhoidectomy which removes all three columns of the hemorrhoid tissue. However, in certain instances when surgery is not advisable, it is treated by adequate analgesia, laxatives, osmotic dressing and reduction under anaesthesia.

You can use many over the counter hemorrhoid treatments. There are several good ones and there are treatments that use only natural ingredients also. Witch Hazel on a cotton ball can work also.

External hemorrhoids can be treated by several means. There are products OTC that can help alleviate symptoms but they do not cure. Changing the diets, avoiding constipation, avoiding prolonged sitting on the toilet, applying ice packs to the inflammed tissue, and exercise can all help with the healing process.
