Europe is about 10 million square kilometers, or about 4 million square miles. It includes the main continent as well as a few islands, including the United Kingdom, Iceland, and Svalbard. It does not include the island of Greenland, a property of Denmark, although this island is pretty close to the European continent. Greenland is considered part of North America.

In general, for modern geographers, the Ural Mountains, the Ural River, a part of the Caspian Sea and the Caucasus Mountains form the main border between Europe and Asia. Europe is about 4,046,624 square miles big.
