Some old linoleum does have asbestos in it. They quit using asbestos to make linoleum in 1978. The black glue used to lay it has more asbestos than the linoleum.

It is possible that it does contain asbestos, and you can have that tested to find out. Tr contacting your local county inspectors to see if they will help you with that. If it tests positive, there are a lot of places you can look online for good flooring that is both durable and budget friendly.

A good question but I would have to say no. Asbestos was only used in the insulation of older homes. This would be more than likely under your floor.

Asbestos was used as an insulator in old houses. It isn't usually found in synthetic flooring. If you think your house may contain hazardous materials you can contact someone who can test and remove any material if they are found. Just look up asbestos removal in your phone-book or online.
