well i've had my tongue pierced for two days now, it didn't hurt nowhere near as much as i thought it would when i got the actual piercing done, but it hurts now though, I have to eat really slow but it's a bearable pain.
The actual piercing of the tongue does not hurt, as that is over pretty quickly. However, my tongue swelled shortly thereafter and for a few weeks afterward and was sore and made my talking very unintelligible. I had my piercing in for approximately 3 years and experienced no long-term pain or side effects from having it done.
It depends on the persons idea of what pain is, some people think lots of pressure is just sort of a discomfort but not pain. The person who explained this said it more or less was not as painful as you would think but was more like a lot of pressure and not like getting cut else where.
I have had my tongue pierced for almost 10 years and when I got it done it didn't hurt near as much as I thought it would, and after it was more like a dull pain that lasted for a few days
