Studying for the SAT helps students save time and money (from taking it again). Students need to familiarize themselves with the types of questions that will be asked, how the questions are designed, and the content of potential questions. Free sample questions and a free practice test are available at the college board web site.

It absolutely helps to study for the SAT, and there are several study aids available. First, the high school guidance office can provide you with study materials and perhaps even free classes. There are online study courses and materials, and classroom courses too. Bookstores have many SAT preparation books and software programs, and maybe even audio CD's for vocabulary study.

It can help some, but there are limits. Most of what is useful to study are test-taking techniques for the SAT, rather than trying to memorize data.
