Japanese Chin's make extremely well-adjusted, intelligent, lovable companions since they were originally bred to be lap dogs by the Chinese people. They are easy to care for, but be careful because some don't particularly like small children. If you have kids, take them along to pick out the pet.

Japanese Chin's are great companions, and they are very friendly to people they are familiar with. They are playful and full of energy unless they are put into an unfamiliar environment. The do however have the medical problems of most small dogs.

Japanese Chins make very good pets, but are not be suitable for smaller children due to their size. They are very family oriented dogs, but may be shy around strangers.

Any dog will make a good pet if it is well taken care of and properly trained. The best thing to do is call the vet and chat with them about it they will beable to tell you the good and bad about the breed.

It depends what you're looking for in a dog. A dog might make a great pet for one person and a terrible pet for another.
