The Bible says that those who truly repent will be forgiven. I believe this completely but because we are fallen beings we may commit the same sin in the future. What matters most is your attitude toward and relationship with God: forgiveness demands a changed heart and a committment to do better in the future by loving and trusting God.

Yes, God is merciful and will readily forgive anyone who asks forgiveness of his or her sin. Sin includes rejection of Jesus Christ in addition to other wrongdoings.
