Answer by  Binome (1975)

Sixth grade science in the U. S. tends to be a general overview of all fields of science. Physics covers simple machines, life sciences will briefly cover the different kingdoms, and earth science will talk a little about seismic and tectonic activity. Chemistry will probably be only barely touched on in terms of photosynthesis or the baking soda and vinegar reaction.

At that age the kids basically have one science class, a general science. However, in this general science class they learn about the Environment, learn a little Chemistry and pick up some biology. As the kids get into High School separate Science classes are offered on each specific subject.
