There are three branches of science: Formal, Natural and Humanistic. They are separated based on the aspects they concentrate on. Formal deals with logic and mathematics, Natural with the natural world and Humanistic with people and their itneractions with the world. Many sub branches of each branch do overlap primarily because of the interconnectedness of everything around us.

Science is artificially broken up into two separate branches: Physical and Biological. Physical sciences include physics, chemistry, and various types of engineering. Biological science includes Biology, Medecine, and parts of chemistry. The two branches overlap quite a bit, specifically in chemistry where there is both physical chemistry and organic chemistry. They are separated artificially for individual specialization.
